I offer development editing, substantive editing, and proofreading services for authors & publishers of nonfiction. I specialize in memoir, narrative nonfiction, and general nonfiction of any topic.

  • Development Editing: I will provide a manuscript diagnostic with recommendations for what levels of editing are required before publication. I can also work with you to develop your manuscript from your rough idea, to an outline, to a complete manuscript. This is editing that takes a look at the manuscript as a whole and helps shape your ideas and concepts.
  • Substantive Editing: Substantive editing takes place after you finish writing and rewriting your manuscript and are ready to take it to the next level. I will take a deep dive into your manuscript and come out with suggestions on how to improve your writing, flow, and overall structure.
  • Copyediting & Proofreading: I do not offer copyediting and proofreading services currently, but can connect you with a colleague who specializes in this service.

As a development editor at sparkhouse I work with freelance writers and editors to create cutting edge faith formation curriculum for kids. I edit instructional materials, poetry, Bible stories for kids, feature content for Bibles, and scripts for animated videos.

As managing editor of Books Make A Difference Magazine, I edit article drafts, provide revision suggestions, and proofread magazine proofs before publication.

I edited introductions and chapters from transcripts of interviews with refugees for the book, This Much I Can Tell You: Stories of Courage and Hope from Refugees in Minnesota.

Part acquisitions editor, part substantive editor, I served as a community editor for the 2013 Saint Paul Almanac, a travel guide and collection of stories about life in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

I am a volunteer proofreader for Mutuality, the magazine of CBE International.
